We had a special visit last week from Daniela Vergara Ph.D. of Cornell University to check out our little hemp and mushroom farm. Daniela is the Emerging Crops Specialist with the Harvest New York program for Cornell University as well as a cannabis scientist, writer, educator, and public speaker. She founded a non-profit organization, the Agricultural Genomics Foundation, that aims to make Hemp and cannabinoid science available to a broader public. Her job at Cornell’s Extension program is to help New York’s hemp farmers and the cannabis community thrive. She is also the lead author for The New York State cannabis sativa L. Production Manual which provides growers and members of the cannabis industry with research-based information on sustainable hemp cultivation to achieve high-quality, profitable, and compliant yields. This manual is packed full of valuable information! We met Daniela while attending Cornell’s Cannabis Sativa L. Field Day the past 2 years. We are very lucky to have her and her team as a resource and as part of our community! We appreciate her taking the time to stop by our farm to see what we have going on 💙
