We attended the NECANN New York Cannabis and Hemp Convention on Friday in Albany to get some last minute information and inspiration for the applications on Wednesday. NECANN is the only convention focused exclusively on the New York market. They had some great seminars as well as a decent tradeshow floor to check out exhibitors.

There was a nice little networking happy hour the night before the event which we attended and made some great connections. We got to hang out and chat with legend cannabis activist and industry consultant, Andrew DeAngelo, of the Last Prisoner Project. We always love to support our friend Nikki Lawley who is a cannabis patient activist who is always working hard to help end the stigma of cannabis and educate people on it’s many uses and compounds.

The programming was geared towards getting ready for the new market, building partnerships, succeeding in an ever-changing environment, facility designs and more. We took away lots of great info from the seminars!

On the way to Albany, we stopped at a few CAURD (Conditional Adult Use Retail Dispensaries) dispensaries to introduce ourselves to the owners/managers to chat with them about how business is going and check out how they have their store set up and products displayed. There’s some really beautiful stores set up!

Ashley was so excited to make a stop at DOSHA Dispensary in Oneonta as that is where she attended college and her fellow Mass Communication alumni, Korey Rowe, co-opened this dispensary! Korey gave us a full tour of his retail location, provided a bunch of feedback on what he’s learned so far from working with the conditional cultivators and just cannabis business in general. We look forward to being on their shelves someday soon! An Oneonta staple is the famous ‘Cold Cheese Pizza’ which we made sure to stop and grab 🙂
